Rajinikanth is a Tamil film actor who has been in the Tamil film industry for over 30 years. He was given the 'Superstar' title after he starred in the 1978 Bairavi, which was directed by M Bhaskar and produced by Kalaignanam. Rajinikanth's family moved from Erode to Chennai when he went to work as an electrician on a construction site at age 15. His acting debut came in 1969 with Kandan Karunai, but his first major success didn't come until 1973 with Apoorva Raagangal.
